Why sunscreen is the most effective treatment you're not using

Daily protection prevents more ageing and pigmentation than any single procedure. Here's how to choose one you'll actually wear.

If we could ask every client to change one habit, it would be this one. Sun exposure is behind most of the visible signs of ageing, and a good sunscreen worn daily does more for your skin than almost anything we can do in the clinic.

It's not only for the beach

Ultraviolet light reaches you through windows, on cloudy days and on short walks. The damage is cumulative, which is exactly why a small daily habit matters more than an occasional careful one.

The best sunscreen is the one you will actually put on, every single morning.

How to choose one

  • Look for broad-spectrum protection and an SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Pick a texture you enjoy, because that decides whether you use it.
  • Mineral formulas are a gentle choice for sensitive skin and after treatments.

How much, and how often

Most people apply far too little. Aim for about two finger-lengths for the face and neck, and reapply every two hours when you are outdoors. After a peel, laser or microneedling, your doctor will tell you exactly how strict to be.

General information only. It does not replace a professional consultation.
